Free and Clear Bike Lanes is catchphrase we would like to roll off everyone's tongue. Free of obstructions and and clear of debris.

The current situation on the Walnut Street Bridge is a perfect example. After the prolonged Ice/Snow storm the Streets Department (or PENNDOT?) simply dumped snow into the bike lane which has settled into dirty ice piles. Eventually those piles will melt and leave a coating of loose gravel which will continue to render the bike lane useless until it is cleaned up by a sweeper.
Note that the parking lane is perfectly clear.
Do you know of a bike lane obstructed by debris or otherwise hazardous?
1- Contact the Streets Department through pothole web page http://potholes.phila.gov
2 - If its a state road (the pothole website will tell you) call 1-800-FIX-ROAD. State the problem and notify them of the nearest cross street. The more details the better.
3- If these fail contact your district Council Person calling on the phone always works best.

It would be nice to be able to report the debris and glass filled bicycle lanes all over the city right now, however the "potholes.phila.gov" site only permits reporting of specific road defects - potholes, sinkholes or ditches, not debris strewn bicycle lanes. Actually, it would be even nicer if the clogged and disgustingly dirty streets were cleaned to begin with, since reporting the entire city would be counter productive.
