Reps Fitzpatrick and Gerlach Sign On For Bicycle Safety

Public political support for bicycle safety
makes Oliver smile
When we write about legislators in this space, it's typically because we are asking you to ask them to do something. (Oh, the games our democracy makes us play...)

So it's a refreshing change of pace for us to report that two U.S. Representatives from Pennsylvania already did something - they were among the 68 representatives who signed a letter asking the U.S. Department of Transportation to set a national goal to reduce bicyclist deaths.

Rep. Mike Fitzpatrick (R - 8th District) and Rep. Jim Gerlach (R - 6th District) deserve acclaim for their support of bicycling and bicycle safety. The League of American Bicyclists has the full list of supportive legislators here. They've also set up a Handy-Dandy-Thankamatronic machine so you can send an electronic gracias to Fitzpatrick or Gerlach if you live in their districts.
