Visit Our Center City Park(ing) Day Installation This Friday

Stop by, say hi, and take adorable photos!
This Friday is Park(ing) Day in Philadelphia and elsewhere. The event, as quoted from its main website, is "an annual worldwide event where artists, designers and citizens transform metered parking spots into temporary public parks."

This is the 5th year that Philadelphia has participated, and this year a record 59 parks will be popping up throughout the city. We will have one of them!

We'll be turning one parking spot on Walnut Street between 15th and 16th into a bike info and safety check station.

Come visit us on Walnut Street at Sydenham St (next to the bike corral) from 10:00 am - 3:30 pm. We'll have:
  • Photo booth to take "I Bike PHL" photos and talk about bicycling in Philly
  • Resources and giveaways like maps and stickers
  • EMS will be on hand starting at 11 am doing free bike safety checks
Interested in those other 58 pop-up parks? Check out the Facebook event, the Philly Park(ing) Day Twitter account, and this map of the locations.

And from the Get. That. Dirt Off Ya Shoulders Dept: Last year we participated in Park(ing) Day with a bike corral on Walnut & Sydenham that, lo and behold, is still there a year later! This year we're not installing another bike corral because the City of Philadelphia has taken that idea and run with it. Nahbigdeal.
