Rumble Strips for Safety?

An article in the Suburban Advertiser covers safety concerns along Route 100 in Upper Uwchlan Twp, several safety improvements were mentioned including grooves in the pavement that will be installed by PennDOT this spring. As usual there is no mention of bicycles or pedestrians. In fact the new grooves (rumble strips?) may have a negative impact on the already marginal bicycling conditions.

If PennDOT had a complete streets policy, improvements proposed
would be designed to balance safety and convenience for everyone using the road, including those who bicycle or walk. And unless bikes and peds are banned from 100 lets assume that they do use the road.

Complete the streets.
