Pennsylvania Transportation Bill Signed Into Law Today

Seated at table, left to right: Sen. John Rafferty, Governor Tom Corbett, Sen. John Wozniak, and PennDOT Secretary Barry Schoch. Behind 3rd and 1st from right: our own Alex Doty, and Philadelphia Deputy Mayor Rina Culter.

In blustery cold Norristown this early afternoon, Gov. Corbett signed Pennsylvania's new transportation bill (this was the second of three signings today). It was a long, arduous, exasperating process to get to this point, but now we are here. Bicycling and walking projects have dedicated funding, are acknowledged as important parts of our state's transportation network, and projects that make our streets safer for bicyclists and pedestrians have a better shot at funding. Say it with us: this is good news!

Thank you to everyone who spoke up for the importance of getting a comprehensive transportation bill passed. You can see more photos from the bill signing on our Facebook page.
