Tomorrow morning at 10:00 am, the full Philadelphia City Council will vote on the Complete Streets bill. We've covered that bill repeatedly before, and as one of its several parents, we are proud papas and mamas of this bill.
In the short term, this bill will modernize our traffic code and encourage enforcement agencies to equitably enforce the rules of the road for drivers and bicyclists. In the long term, the bill will improve the fundamental structure and layout of our streets and sidewalks, making them safer and more pleasant to traverse.
Barring unforeseen circumstances, we expect City Council to pass the bill, and we thank them, especially the bill's champion Councilman Mark Squilla, for taking this big step towards making our city's streets safer for all.
