(While we do not necessarily want candidates to resemble Mr. Arthur Jensen from the movie Network, we are desperately trying to raise funds to trick out our meeting room with lots of those classic green desk lamps and some imposing high-backed wooden chairs. Candidates down with that motif will be viewed favorably.)*
See below for information not tainted by classic 1970's movie references:
Attractive candidates will be able to demonstrate dynamic use of whispering and shouting when explaining how the world works, Mr. Beale! |
The Bicycle Coalition is seeking board and committee members who share a commitment to our mission regardless of their skills on a bike: We strive to make bicycling better through advocacy and education by promoting biking as a healthy, low-cost, and environmentally friendly form of transportation and recreation.
Do you have experience in any of the following areas: nonprofit finance, communications & marketing, fundraising, and/or prior board experience or training? We seek applicants with connections to communities that have been historically underrepresented in discussions about bicycle and transit policy including people of color, suburbanites, women, immigrants, and the mobility restricted.
To learn more and to complete our self-nomination form, please see this form.
*Note: the author of this commentary has little or no input on the board member selection process, and what he does to entertain himself on the blog should not be taken seriously by interested candidates. If anything, his freedom to write this should be taken as further evidence of how great the Bicycle Coalition is, and another reason to want to be on our Board.
