Philly Bike Parking Rings Installation (Finally) Begins!

Starting this morning, the Philadelphia Parking Authority (PPA) began to install bike parking rings on old meter posts on Walnut Street.  1500 rings were purchased by the City using stimulus funding (Energy Efficiency Block Grant) and will be installed around the city.  Thank you Mayor Nutter and PPA!  More photos  here.

This is great that they are finally putting these much needed bike rings up. The ring comes in two pieces, and when attached correctly should read as a full bicycle outline, as shown on the Baltimore example posted a while back. However (at least on the 1600 block of Walnut), it appears they have installed two of the "Front" ends together instead. Hopefully they will catch this soon or within a few blocks they will have to place two "back" ends together which will look even more ridiculous! They also seem to be placed rather low. But they are better, MUCH better, than a bare post. Thank you!
