Photo of the Day - World's Worst Bike Lock

I locked up next to this one at the Trenton Train Station today. Yes, that's a bike secured to a rack with an inner tube. Scissors Anyone?

You can clearly see it is a CHAIN wrapped in an inner tube to protect the paint of the bike. Look closer.

It looks like there's a chain inside that tube.

Those racks are pretty neat and I have been meaning to take a photo of them.

I thought it was pretty cool that the racks had built-in cables for securing seats and other unsecured items. Look closely at the top of the circle for the cable.

However, I'm not sure if the circular design is as advantageous to locking both the front and rear wheels to the rack as a standard inverted "U" rack.

With such a lovely new train station at Trenton, it is rather unfortunate, if not totally unacceptable, that there was no high security or even sheltered bike or parking provided. The station is not yet 100% completed but it doesn't look like any more bike parking is coming.

After some intense lobbying, there is now a (covered) bike rack within the parking garage directly across from the station. If you walk out the front door, the garage is about 50 yards ahead on the right. There is a pedestrian path that leads to the garage to the right of Lorenzo's. Don't all go there at once though, because it can only hold like three bikes (especially when the same asshole parks his bike horizontally across the entire rack) and I still have to park my bike there every night!

But yes, to the earlier point, huge miss by NJ Transit to not include more bike parking in their new station.
