Here is a video produced by some California League Cycling Instructor's that has some very good tips for bicycling in urban traffic, I especially like the the tips for dealing with right turn lanes and making left hand turns.
It's duly noted that these are very skilled, faster cyclists interacting with relatively polite Southern California motorists traveling at moderate speeds, not everyone is going to feel comfortable using these techniques on Grant Avenue or Baltimore Pike.
