A short but critical two mile section of the Delaware and Raritan Canal is currently under construction. This is a previously inaccessible tidal section of the Canal south of Trenton. The trail will offer a safer bicycle or walking trip between Bordentown and Trenton through the Trenton - Hamilton Marsh.

More importantly it is the first significant construction along the planned Delaware River Heritage Trail a bi-state 50 mile loop from the Tacony Palmyra Bridge to the Calhoun St Bridge using the D&R Canal, Delaware Canal and new trails on both sides of the Delaware River.
