Speedy Videos of MLK Drivers

If you don't think that speeding is a problem on MLK Drive (A Fairmount Park Road) then watch these two videos.

"Out of the Starting Gate" a crossing pedestrian waits for the Indy Car paceline to blow by at the entrance to MLK Drive.

Driving at or below the posted speed limit on either of the drives is a harrowing experience itself. I'd welcome some further encouragement to slow down. I wonder what would happen if, say, a few people organized 4 or 5 cars to drive loops around the drives in a group AT the speed limit. Seems like it would be a good use of fossil fuels if you could do it for a week during rush hour.

Thank you for posting these videos. You would think the city could pay for the park by enforcing speeding laws on the drives! I don't know if anyone ever gets speeding citations in the city, much less on MLK drive. I am sure they don't - I had a city police officer tell me to get on the path and out of the street 2 weeks ago (on a Sunday). Bicycling lanes and laws are meaningless unless they are enforced.
