2012 I Bike PHL Challenge

Welcome to the 2012 I Bike PHL Challenge!

Last year we logged nearly 150,000 miles in our first-ever Commuter Challenge. This year we are upping the ante by joining the National Bike Challenge. This nation-wide challenge is being organized and sponsored by the League of American Bicyclists, Kimberly Clark, Bikes Belong, and Endomondo.

Send Me To The Registration Page Post-Haste!

What is it and how does it work?
  • A free, for-fun competition to encourage you to use your bike for transportation, exercise, and recreation this summer.
  • Endomondo's website and free app tracks your miles, CO2 emissions, calories, and more.
  • Ride in teams of up to 10 friends, coworkers, classmates, anybody!
  • Rack up points to unlock new prize levels and climb the leaderboards.
  • Feel good!
How can I sign up?
The challenge begins officially on May 1st and runs until August 31st. Want to learn more? Check out our FAQ sheet here.

any way you could allow people to view their stats til now? I'd like to download mine. thx

Unfortunately, we are unable to offer this option. The previous website was a pretty limited tool, and it did not allow for the downloading of stats. One of the reasons we are switching to a new challenge and website is that the new one will be much more robust.

We're sorry for any consternation this may cause. We hoped to have a smoother transition from the old site to the new one, but glitches intervened. Fortunately, the whims of websites cannot undo the miles we have ridden.

can i just view them? i didn't mean download electronically, i can copy them!

no big deal if not, I know this is a volunteer organization.

I wish you could. We know some people were still using the original site to log miles, and we hoped to give some notice period before the switch. While we are not only a volunteer organization (we have staff), when it comes to web hosting savvy, we are amateurs. In attempting to switch where the domain was registered, the site went down, and rather than go through the laborious task of getting it back in order to tell people it was going down, we decided to just redirect people to this page (we neither hosted the original site nor administered it). So, again, sorry for suddenly cutting off support without notice, but it's the boat we're in now.

The new challenge is being hosted here: http://www.endomondo.com/campaign/national

We are still in the process of developing materials in support of the new challenge, but you can sign up and start logging miles immediately. They won't count towards your official totals (which begins May 1st), but if you're jonzing for a way to record your biking, you can start today.

Ok, I singed up for Endomondo, but how do I sign up for this specific challenge? I don't see it listed when I click on the "Challenges" tab.

Laura - from Endomondo.com, you can search for "national bike challenge" in the search box at the top right. That should take you to the challenge.

Sorry for the barrage of questions. I didn't "check the box to receive information from us" when I signed up, as I already receive info from GPBC. What do I do now to enter to win Philly specific prizes?

Jim - Good question. We're going to set up a form people can fill out to enter the Philly drawings. Look for the link to that on the Endomondo Philly page and our blog page soon.
